In 1992 James Carville was a campaign strategist charged with helping Bill Clinton win the oval office away from the incumbent president, George H.W. Bush. In order to keep the campaign on track Carville came up with three slogans that became the main focus of Clinton’s platform. The most famous of these slogans was “The Economy, stupid.” We often hear the slogan misquoted; but the point is the same, most issues are not as important as the economy. That is to say when the economy is functioning correctly the other issues often fall in line. If people have enough money, people are generally content. Below you will find a breakdown of the economic issues and how I would address tax reform and other fiscal narratives.
